Event Navigation

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe,
patron of the Americas and of Mexico

Pray the Scriptures for this feast. Click HERE then scroll down and click
on today’s date for a video reflection. Contemplate God’s word with lectio divina.

We remember Mary’s appearance to Saint Juan Diego in 1531 as a native Mexican
and expectant mother. To the left is the image on his tilma.

“She was the beginning of what we can truly call the New World, where men and women of all backgrounds could live and work in peace.”  – St. Anthony Messenger. Read more.

Here are prayers, activities and recipes for this feast. Send an e-card.

Don’t miss Las Mañanitas, the early-morning serenade to Our Lady. This takes place each year at the climax of
the pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe  (video in Spanish with English subtitles) at Tepeyac, in Mexico City.
You can watch it live on cable TV Univisión in Fort Wayne. Better yet, take part in the local celebration. Check with Saint Patrick Church
or Saint Joseph Church in Fort Wayne, or the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Warsaw, Indiana, for the schedule of Las Mañanitas to Our Lady.

The most traditional of songs for the feast is “La Guadalupana.” For the lyrics in Spanish, with a rough English translation, go HERE,
where you will also find links to more musical versions.
