Saint Andrew, apostle

November 30

Saint Andrew, apostle

Feast of Saint Andrew, apostle

Pray the Scripture for today. Click HERE, then scroll down and click on today’s date for a video reflection. Hold the Gospel in your heart with lectio divina.

Prepare a fish dish today in honor of this fisherman, the First-Called Apostle of Christ.  If on a tight budget, catch a squirrel and make Brunswick Stew! This is a great day to sing Two Fishermen. Another hymn for the day is the favorite of Saint John Paul II, Pescador de Hombres / Lord, When You Came to the Seashore.

Send an e-card. He has a famous brother. Click here to find out who he is.  Links for your prayer, reflection, and study. Print a Saint Andrew coloring page.

St. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, Russia, and Romania.  The flag of Scotland commemorates his X-shaped cross. See more.

In Poland, the evening of the 29th is Andrzejki, a time of song and dance and playing of games that predict the future marriage mates of young people. Every town and village has its Bal Andrzejkowy or Saint Andrew’s Ball. They have them in Chicago, too!

In 2016, Scots invited people named Andrew from major European cities to celebrate the big day in Scotland! Why is it such a big deal for the Scots? Join in the fun with the RED HOT CHILI PIPERS!

Advent will be here soon. Time to ready hearts and homes! Why not sync your calendar with the Saint Jude schedule for Advent and Christmas? A good way to mark the season is with an Advent Meal Prayer. Don’t forget to bless your Advent Wreath!
