Saint Jude Choir supports the assembly in
song during Sunday Mass and at other principal liturgies. Members enjoy praising God in
song, ministering to the people of the parish, growing musically and spiritually, and
spending time together. They are of high school age or older. The choir sings at 9:00 a.m.

All Christians are called to prayer, fasting, and
almsgiving during the Lenten Season, a time of preparation for the
celebration of the Paschal Mystery. On the Thursdays of Lent we join
in prayer and reflection with the Elect and those desiring to enter
into full communion with the Church. The evenings begin with a meal
of soup, bread and water. At 6:30, all assemble in the Church
for a presentation, a time for silent reflection, and community prayer.
The topic for each session is chosen to challenge participants to
live a more prayerful Lent and prepare for the Triduum-the holy days
of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday.
The Liturgy Committee strengthens the
liturgical life of our parish by applying the liturgical documents and the traditions of
the church to the needs and experience of the Saint Jude community. Members learn about
Catholic liturgy, develop a working knowledge of the liturgical documents, attend ten
monthly working meetings, meet for a Lenten evening of reflection, prepare and evaluate
the liturgical seasons, evaluate and promote the further renewal of parish liturgical
life, and promote the integral connection between liturgical prayer and living our
baptismal promises.
Parishioners may borrow a wide variety of
books and videos relating to the liturgical life of the church.
The Mission Choir sings every second year
for our parish mission. Singers, junior high age through adult, are invited to join.
Mission Choir members rehearse from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on the four Wednesdays preceding the
parish mission. It is important that all singers be at each rehearsal. The group sings for
each of the four evenings of the parish mission.
Sacristans assist with the setup of all
Masses, Sunday and weekdays.
Servers assist the priest during the Sunday Masses and at
8:15 a.m. weekday Masses. Boys and girls in Grade 6 through high school receive yearly
training.
There are two groups of young cantors: 1)
Saint Jude school students grades 2 through 8, rehearse each Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. when
school is in session. They sing for school Masses and are invited to sing for principal
liturgies of Triduum and Christmas. They occasionally sing for Sunday Mass. 2) Other young
singers rehearse and sing for Sunday Mass several times throughout the year.
