Stewardship Statement
Saint Jude is a Stewardship parish. We strive to preach and live the message of
Gospel Stewardship, which invites followers of Jesus Christ to give intentional and

Members of Saint Jude Parish are invited to give generous amounts of time and talent in
a variety of ministries. Commitments are made on the
last Sunday before Lent for a one year period. New parishioners are invited to make
a commitment at the time of registration. Without the generous gifts of time and
talent, Saint Jude could not work effectively. An accounting of the gifts of time and
talent is provided every Fall in the Annual Parish Report.
The Stewardship of treasure is known as Sacrificial
Giving. Parishioners are invited to make a one year commitment
according to four guiding principles.
- We give back to God a portion of what God has given to us.
- We give back a first portion, not what is left after all the bills are paid.
- We wrap that gift in an envelope, to help us be more accountable.
- The Biblical tithe of 10% is suggested as a guideline: 5% to Saint Jude, and the other
5% to the charities of our choice (which might include the Annual Bishop's Appeal, extra
envelopes assigned by the Diocese, and school tuition).
In gratitude for God's gifts through parishioners' generosity, Saint Jude tithes 4% of our offertory income to outside
charities: 1 1/2% to needs determined by the Social Action Committee and 2% to Most
Precious Blood Catholic Church to assist with teachers' salaries and 1/2% to the Diocese
of Ansanol, India.
In keeping with a consistent policy of Stewardship, Saint Jude does not participate in
fund raising activities, trusting that parishioners will respond generously to meet the
needs of the parish and school. Ongoing efforts are made to distinguish between
needs and wants.
